About Me

Janie Mason, age two

I was born, raised and currently reside in Columbus, Ohio with my husband, two teen-aged children and our mixed breed dog.  After I wrote my first book, New York Times best-selling author Suzanne Brockmann advised me, via e-mail, to join my local chapter of Romance Writers of America. I became a member of Central Ohio Fiction Writers in 2002 and owe so much to that organization.  I highly encourage anyone interested in pursuing a career in romance writing to join their local chapter.  The rest, they say, is history.

Janie’s Fun Facts:

  • I’m addicted to TAB; you know, the original diet cola.

  • My husband is three years my junior.  I never considered it to be a big deal, but I’ve been teased about robbing the cradle for years!

  • In sixth grade I was crowned Miss Parkway Drive.  I still can’t bring myself to throw away that tinfoil and cardboard crown.

  • It took 46 years before I ever traveled outside the continental United States.

  • As a child, I didn’t enjoy reading.  Now it’s one of my most pleasurable indulgences.

  • I’ve had nasal polyps surgically removed four times.  Never again!

  • My husband and I moved six times in the first nine years of our marriage.  Also, never again!

  • I consider air-conditioners and heated mattress pads to be two of man’s greatest innovations.

  • My hair is naturally curly.

  • My husband and I sing in a small ensemble at our church.

  • I learned to drive in my Mom’s ancient 1966 white Mustang convertible.  So when the retro Mustang came out in 2005, that’s what I had to have.  I’m just a sentimental fool.

  • Friend and fellow author, Marcia James, and I have more than writing romances in common.  We both love to bargain shop.
